Labor Day, for me, is the official start of the Halloween season! I plan to kick off the weekend by watching two of my favorite Halloween movies:
The Nightmare Before Christmas
The Rocky Horror Picture Show
What will you be doing this Labor Day weekend? Anything to kick off Halloween or Fall?
Excellent use of a doily. I may have to make one of these myself! You can find more about Betz on her blog @ http://blog.betzwhite.com/
What projects are you planning for fall/Halloween?
I can’t believe it’s been 20 days since my last post. 20! I’ve been so busy planning and enjoying fall (and all the other things that need to be done) that these last 3 weeks have flown by. The weather is FINALLY cooling down (I think) and Fall has been officially pronounced. I wear Halloween T-shirts (almost) every day. We’ve watched several horror(ish) movies. I want to post a list of my must watch movies at some point and I’d love to see what others consider “must watch”. Can you believe I still don’t have all of my fall decor up?! I am really “fall”ing behind. Ha. I have so many things to post about but I am trying to finish a test for my Master Gardeners class, and I’m making cinnamon-apple-oatmeal cookies with maple syrup glaze, so I’ll leave you with this…
Looks awesome, huh?! I know what I’ll be doing Halloween night, after the kids go to bed! After the trick-or-treating is over, I like to watch something scary. What do you like to do on Halloween night?
Yes, I know there are people who would disagree with me. But let’s face it–it’s here! The weather has cooled down considerably. I’m finding pears, apples, pumpkins and dried corn at the farmers market..Fall has fallen! (you know, spring has sprung–so fall has, you know,–nevermind). I also now pronounce it Halloween Tshirt season! This is what I am wearing today…
I also picked up a copy of Martha Stewart‘s Halloween Handbook-Collector’s Edition!
Yes, it is true–99.999999999% of this content is from previous MS Living issues. BUT, for people that haven’t been reading for the past 10 years (or so) or don’t have a collection of MSL issues dating back that far–this is a nice handbook to have. Or you could be like me-I have been reading that long and have a collection that dates back prior to 10 years but….Well, you should know something about me. I have a magazine addiction (books too, but more on that another time). And I have a Halloween addiction. So it stands to reason I would have a Halloween magazine addiction. So, of course, I had to have this. Doesn’t matter that I’ve seen all but one of the ideas before. Still needed it. That’s the way addictions work, right?
I also noticed a BH&G Hallween mag, special issue. Also, a Family Fun Halloween special issue. Naturally, you’ll be seeing those soon!
Do you have any favorite go-to websites, magazines, books when it comes to looking for Fall/Halloween costumes, decorating, etc??
I should really be working at the moment but I am procrastinating. I just had to share that I found the first batch of pumpkins and dried corn at this farmer’s market http://www.downtownls.org/events.php. I am so excited! I immediately set up a little tablescape. My fall scented candles are burning, the weather has cooled down into the 80’s, apples were also at the farmer’s market–life is good! What is your favorite thing about this time of year? How do you change things in your home to reflect that?
